An indulgence

Published on Wednesday 1st August 2012 by DJ Kirkby

Yesterday I used a day of holiday to spend the day indulging myself in writing.  Yes all day. It was fabulous fun.  Really, it was.  I wrote nearly 5000 words, and two of those were THE END, in my first book of The Portal Series (for 8 – 12 year olds).  *falls over in a happy heap*

The book has now gone out to parent and child beta readers for comment and I would like to say a big thank you to them because they are all aces for volunteering to read a first draft!

  • Congratulations! Sometimes you just have to hole yourself up and do what you want to do. The End are the two most awesome words in any writer’s vocabulary.

  • The end are sweet words to type when you’re working on a long ms. Congrats. There’s something really motivating about taking a day off work to write. When writing is the day job it doesn’t work like that. Good luck with your feedbacks.

    • I would love to be able to afford to have writing as my day job! *sighs dreamily* The feedback from beta and adult readers alike has been superb so far…only a couple of beta readers left to feedback now…

    • Ahhh Jane I booked it off on purpose to use for writing because I work fulltime including summers 🙁 So you’re back from your book signing event I see…or did you escape? I am heading over to your blog to find out!
