Spicy Marinara Sauce

This is super simple and quick to make and good for so many dishes from lasagna to subs. The recipe below will make enough for topping subs and extra for dipping, if you want to make enough for spaghetti sauce then double the recipe and if you want to make a big dish of lasagna then you need to quadruple the recipe.


  • 500g tub of passata
  • 2tbsp smoked paprika
  • 2tbsp basil
  • 1tbsp oregano
  • 1tbsp hot sauce
  • 1tsp dried garlic or two fresh cloves (minced)
  • salt and pepper to taste


  1. Bring to a boil then simmer until reduced to desired consistency – for subs (click here for my my recipe) you want a very thick sauce that takes a few seconds to flop off your spoon when help over the pot.
