ROBE (HP) Focus Groups

Logo-Colour-PNGI first asked for your views on obesity and weight related health care back in Feb 2011,  and your input went on to help me shape and develop the content for a learning package for health professionals in relation to maternal and infant obesity for Bournemouth University. This package is called MaCO which stands for Maternal and Childhood Obesity – however this learning package only touches on the topic of childhood obesity and is instead focussed on maternal and infant obesity. In hindsight I should have called it MaIO!

As you may have read in this post, I have now been commissioned by Health Education England to write a learning package for health professionals and healthcare workers which addresses ways in which to support parents and children in reducing childhood obesity. The working title is ROBE (HP)  which stands for Reducing Obesity By Education (Health Professionals).

I would be very interested to learn your views about care related to childhood overweight  and obesity – personal experience or anecdotes. Healthcare workers (including teachers) – do you feel confident to give this care? Parents / Patients – do you feel care and advice you have been given has been useful? Both – if yes, then what worked well and if no then what could have been improved? Please share your views (anonymously if you wish)  in the comment section below or in either or both of the focus groups (or all three).
