Dear Doctorate – year 2, week 46

Published on Tuesday 2nd July 2019 by DJ Kirkby

Dear Doctorate Diary

This seems to have become a monthly update, what a change from the beginning of my doctorate journey when I faithfully updated you each week.

I’ve not made time for much exercise the past couple months and that really does have to change. I managed to complete the Soggy Bottom triathlon without injury despite lack of training. Though I do have a niggly hamstring thing going on with which my left leg seems to shorten whenever I spend any time sitting. Not sure what to do about that….will see how it progresses.

I actually got away for a proper family  (zero work) holiday to Gibraltar for a week in June which was superb. I am still on holiday now but sadly I am now back to my usual working holiday, but at least I had one week completely work free.

I will be presenting my CILVRS Project to Parliament this month – I am excited and terrified in equal measures.

I survived a mock transfer viva and submitted the draft of my transfer report to the doctorate team for review. Once they have read it  (and hopefully not thrown me off the course), I will then complete it ready for the mid July submission  deadline. I then will spend my non working days each week throughout August preparing my Ethics Panel submission and preparing my transfer viva in Sept.

I need to complete an academic research article I am writing and get that submitted too as I have not submitted anything for publication this year. Tsk, tsk…. what have I been doing with all my time?

Seems like a lot to get through in just a few short weeks….here’s hoping it all goes to the above plan!
