About DJ

Dee is a registered midwifery lecturer and public health practitioner, teaching midwifery four days per week, and writing freelance the rest of the week.

She writes fiction and non-fiction for adults using the name D.J. Kirkby and mid grade chapter books for children as Dee Kirkby. Dee is the author of Without Alice, My Dream of YouSpecial Deliveries: Life Changing Moments,  RealandRaffie Island and Queendom  (the Portal Series for children),   My Mini Midwife, The Rules, and the NoObesity Apps (available from Nov 2017).

When not otherwise occupied, Dee can be found chatting to people on Twitter and Facebook, and adding photos on Pinterest.

At the age of 40, Dee was diagnosed with a form of autism called Asperger syndrome, in addition to dyslexia and dyspraxia (which definitely explains a lot of things including why she can’t read a tube map).
