Dee lives in the South of England in a home otherwise filled with males – husband, boys and pets – she writes to escape the testosterone.
Dee is a freelance writer, and is currently working on a childhood obesity reduction project for Health Education England.
She writes fiction and non-fiction for adults using the name D.J. Kirkby and mid grade chapter books for children as Dee Kirkby. Dee is the author of Without Alice, My Dream of You, Special Deliveries: Life Changing Moments, Realand, Raffie Island and Queendom (the Portal Series for children), My Mini Midwife and The Rules.
Dee is a registered midwifery lecturer and public health practitioner, teaching midwifery two days per week.. At the age of 40, she was diagnosed with a form of autism called Asperger syndrome, in addition to dyslexia and dyspraxia (which definitely explains a lot of things including why she can’t read a tube map).
